The Visual Arts Department at Miami Arts Charter provides art students with skills and techniques in various media while focusing on concepts and ideas. In middle school, students focus on basic skills, concepts and theory in 2-D and 3-D art and design.
Students auditioning into the Miami Arts Charter School Visual Arts Department must meet the following requirements in order to be considered for entry. Students must bring their portfolios and sketchbooks to the audition. The portfolio and sketchbooks are optional for 6th grade applicants, but are highly encouraged as they supplement the faculty's ability to assess the student's artistic skill set.
All necessary drawing materials will be provided. The audition process takes approximately 60-90 minutes.
The audition process consists of two parts:
1. Portfolio & Sketchbook Review
2. Drawing Test (Still Life in Pencil)
PORTFOLIO REQUIREMENTS:
The portfolio requirements are listed below and should be adhered to carefully. The portfolios are reviewed by MAC faculty while the drawing assessment is in progress.
